*** COME AND FEED THE FRIENDLY KUNEKUNE PIGS ***
You will be pleased to know that we endeavour to provide both a child friendly holiday and a dog friendly holiday.
A child friendly holiday means that everyone is invited to come and meet, and enjoy being with, our animals. The ancient woodland, natural meadows and a 'big' play system are all here to be enjoyed as well.
Everyone is welcome, come one and all, to enjoy meeting and helping with feeding our KuneKune pigs and goats.
Come and meet the girls; our small KuneKune pigs are called Genny, Dotty and Mabel. They have a placid friendly nature and love human company. They will happily sit and let adults and children feed them (photo opportunity time!) - they love most fruit and vegetables and you can bring some up and feed them. Their name is pronounced 'Cooney Cooney' and means fat and round in Maori. They live happily with the goats and have their own home; they can come out into the paddock or enjoy their own special bit of woodland. Another thing they especially like is being scratched behind the ears; very entertaining and a great time is had by all.
Our very friendly goats are real individual characters; there’s Holly and Ivy who are sisters who look nothing like each other!, Blossom who is a real beauty, Fern who is Ivy's mum and the twins May and Saskia. You can help to give them their feed and hay.
Child friendly holiday; At the edge of the woods, near to the lodges, there is a really fun play system which the children will certainly enjoy. It's close enough that you can let them give you 'some time out' when you want to. It has two towers, two slides including a spiral one, monkey bars, plenty of things to swing on and lots to climb up.
Everyone will also love and enjoy the freedom to explore nearly 30 acres of ancient woodland. Children can play and run around in the natural meadow in front of the lodges.
Dog friendly holiday; lots of our doggy friends come back, with their owners, year after year. They enjoy walking on lead through the woods and the meadow or just relaxing on the patio. There are also lots of other interesting walks nearby.
Your well behaved dogs are welcome to come on their dog friendly holiday to Cutkive Wood. We know that owners will understand that they have to provide a basket or blanket and feeding and drinking bowls for their dogs and not let them on the furniture. To allow for courtesy and consideration to all our guests dogs must not be left unattended or allowed to roam free. There is a maximum of two dogs allowed per lodge (additional dogs may be allowed by special arrangement). Give us a call if you have any questions.
There is a day kennels (with good feedback) very close to us and lots of our guests have made good use of this when they want to have a day out without having to leave their dog in the car all day (perhaps when going to the Eden Project or similar).
