Pets and Play

You can enjoy feeding the friendly animals, exploring and walking in the ancient woods and wildlife field and children can build dens in the wooded play area – all here for you to enjoy.

Things to do

Dog Friendly Holidays

Lots of our doggy friends come back, with their owners, year after year. They enjoy walking on lead through the woods and the meadow or just relaxing on the patio. There are also lots of other interesting walks nearby.

Your well behaved dogs are welcome to come on their dog friendly holiday to Cutkive Wood. We know that owners will understand that they have to provide a basket or blanket and feeding and drinking bowls for their dogs and not let them on the furniture. To allow for courtesy and consideration to all our guests dogs should not be left unattended or allowed to roam free. There is a maximum of two dogs allowed per lodge (additional dogs may be allowed by special arrangement). Give us a call if you have any questions.

There is a day kennel (with good feedback) very close to us and lots of our guests have made good use of this when they want to have a day out without having to leave their dog in the car all day (perhaps when going to the Eden Project or similar).

Meet the Animals

Everyone is welcome, come one and all, to enjoy meeting and feeding our friendly KuneKune pigs and goat.

Come and meet the girls; our small KuneKune pigs are called Gen, Dotty and Mabel. They have a lovely placid friendly nature, are great fun and love human company. They will happily sit and let everyone feed them (photo opportunity time!) – they love most fruit and vegetables and you can bring them some. Their name is pronounced ‘Cooney Cooney’ and means fat and round in Maori. They live happily with the goats and have their own home; they can come out into the paddock or enjoy their own special bit of woodland. Another thing they especially like is being scratched behind the ears; very entertaining and a great time is had by all.

Our very friendly goat, Holly, who lives happily with the piggies, likes to meet people and she’ll be very pleased if you feed her too.

Childrens Play, the Woods and the Wildlife Field

Children can have a really good time and make friends; at the edge of the woods, near to the lodges, there are places which they will certainly enjoy. It’s close enough that you can let them give you ‘some time out’ when you want to. Here they can build dens of their own or extend one of those that are ‘still standing’ around. You can even re-visit your own childhood and help them. All the natural things you need are there.

Everyone will also love and enjoy the freedom to explore nearly 30 acres of ancient woodland. Children can also play, run around and let off steam in the natural field in front of the lodges.
